Setting ourselves up for success – Launch Day!

27th April 2024 was not only a superb 5–1 home win against Sheffield Utd it was also the official launch of the Newcastle United Armed Forces Supports Club. After working on the club set up details since December 2023, we were ready to formerly launch in the spring. As a committee we accepted an invitation from the Lord Mayor of Newcastle to the Civic Centre for a short ceremony and the presentation of the Lord Mayors Endorsement Certificate for our new club.

After the Civic Centre launch ceremony, we gathered in Shearers Bar with other club members for our first club meet up. Shearers had their usual ‘legends’ speaker and its was Brian ‘Killer’ Kilcline who also joined in with the NUAFSC gathering but it was our guest of honour who formerly joined us on this special day. John Beresford kindly agreed to meet up with us all and was just brilliant. John has also supported us more widely and is our first former player ambassador for the now civically endorsed Newcastle United Armed Forces Supporters Club.

So that’s it our new club is formerly established and takes its place in our proud city to follow our proud football club, HWTLs!
